Fire in the 'Hood

The apartments behind our house went a blaze on Friday night. 16 units were damaged by fire, smoke or water. It took the fire department 5 hours to get the fire under control. Reports on the news said the fire is suspicious and under investigation. The pictures are from our backyard. Crazy. 12 families lost everything. Please pray for them.

My baby brother's a married man!

Sam and Jessica got married on July 18th in an intimate ceremony for family and friends in Houston. Afterwards, we dined at Cava Bistro downtown. Everything was really nice and the couple looked really happy. Jessica was a beautiful bride and Sam a handsome groom. Ah, young love. We love you guys and wish you all the best!

Austin Children's Museum

Jaden had his first visit to the ACM today. He went with Colten and Levi. The boys all had a great time. The ACM is a wonderful exploratory place for little ones. I do think he will enjoy it more when he is older and can experience some of the workshop stuff. Afterwards we dined at Spaghetti Warehouse. Jaden had so much fun he passed out in the car on the way home.

Happy 4th of July

It is funny how different our celebrations are now that we have children. Pre-babies we would have drank ourselves silly and stayed up all night trying to kill ourselves by lighting fire works. Some things haven't changed. Spending time with great friends, good food, and of course there is still a little drinking. But nowadays it is all about the kids. We had The Matison's and The Kloesel's over for a cookout yesterday and let the boys swim all afternoon. We all had a great time watching the boys play until the sun went down. Hope you all had your own version of a Happy 4th of July!

Frio River Trip

After a busy long weekend in St. Louis, Jaden and I headed to Leakey, TX for some R&R with Grandma and Grandpa Webb. My parents have a cabin there on the beautiful Frio River. This year the water is a little low for floating, but since Jaden is not even 2 yet, and I am pregnant, we wouldn't do any floating anyway. We did hang out in the water with our tubes every afternoon. This is the first summer Jaden has been able to enjoy the water. I love every part of Leakey. My parents are there to be the best grandparents ever and entertain and take care of little man, my cell phone doesn't work, we don't watch any TV and we hang outside enjoying nature. In front of the cabin my dad puts corn out for the deer. We call them welfare deer because they stand around waiting for us to put out more corn. Jaden loves them and one of his first words was deer. If only he could figure out how to catch one so he could play with it.
